Silicon Alley Style

A VC: Alley Wag
Fred Wilson and several others voice their disapproval of the NY Times story about the rebirth of Silicon. Maybe the story was in the style section because the companies cited were a lot like the 99' vintage alley companies - mostly style, little substance.
Had the business writers done the piece we hopefully they would have written about companies with real business models ... Right Media, 360i, Reprise, Datran, Massive. Even Eyeblaster, Tacoda and Poindexter are better representaives of the tech sector in NY than Meetup and Gawker.

A More Rational Bubble ...

Next Internet, a ... I hate to say it ... Web 2.0 incubator is getting attention as both a portend of good and bad times ahead. Is Next a better model in an environment where revenue growth and profitability matter or have they simply fogetten the lessons that should have been learned from eFinanceWorks, ICG and CMGI?
